ASBURY PARK, NJ.- Last Friday, an 18-year-old Neptune Township, New Jersey, man and a 21-year-old Long Branch, New Jersey, man were both sentenced to New Jersey State Prison for their roles in a July 2023 triple shooting that claimed the life of an Asbury Park man and injured two others.
According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, on Friday, October 24, 2025, Ziamere Ivery, 18, of Neptune Township, and Michael Sally, 21, of Long Branch, both appeared in Monmouth County Superior Court and were sentenced, respectively, by Superior Court Judge Jill O’Malley Ivery to 18 years in State Prison and Sally to 7 years in State Prison.
Both men previously appeared on May 9, 2025, in Monmouth County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Judge O’Malley. Ivery pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree Aggravated Manslaughter, and Sally pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
In handing down the sentence, Judge O’Malley ordered Ivery to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole pursuant to the No Early Release Act. In addition, Judge O’Malley ordered Sally to serve 42 months of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole pursuant to the Graves Act.
Sentence And Guilty Plea Stem From July 2023 Triple Shooting
The sentence stems from an investigation that began on Monday, July 3, 2023, when, shortly after 10:30 p.m., members of the Asbury Police Department responded to multiple reports of gunfire at the Asbury Park Gardens apartment complex located on Atlantic Avenue in Asbury Park.
Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered three men all suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. All three were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts, one of the men, identified as Lativity Lyons, 21, of Asbury Park, New Jersey, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly before 11:00 p.m. The other two victims were treated and subsequently released.
A fourth victim, the intended target of the shooting, sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene, but did not seek further medical treatment.
The ensuing investigation into the shooting death of Mr. Lyons, which was led by Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Asbury Park Police Department, resulted in the identification of Ivery and Sally, and charges being filed against the two men. Ivery was initially charged as a juvenile, but the charges were later waived up to adult criminal court.
