WASHINGTON, DC.- On Wednesday, a 26-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with brutally assaulting a man during the early morning hours on Tuesday, in Northwest, D.C.

According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, just minutes after 3:45 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of an assault on the 500 Block of K Street in Northwest, D.C.

Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man with an injury to his head. The man informed the Responding Police Officers that, while on K Street, he was approached by a male suspect who asked him for money. When the man refused to give the suspect money, the suspect assaulted the man and struck him with a bottle. The suspect then fled the scene on a bicycle. The injured man was treated on the scene.

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, based on a description provided by the victim and area video surveillance footage, Police Officers located and arrested Diamonte Lucas, 26, of Northwest, D.C., and formally charged him with one count of Assault with Significant Bodily Injury; and Threats to Kidnap or Injure.

Lucas was processed on the charges and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
