SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ.- On Thursday, a 41-year-old Keansburg, New Jersey, man, who is currently detained in the Ocean County Jail on domestic violence charges for the alleged brutal beating of his 32-year-old girlfriend, was charged with murder after his girlfriend succumbed to injuries she sustained during Monday’s assault.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Monday, November 3, 2025, members of the Toms River Township Police Department responded to Community Medical Center in Toms River after being notified that a woman with a severe head injury, later identified as Mary O’Conner, 32, of Seaside Heights, New Jersey, had been dropped off by two men, who later left. Ms. O’Connor was found to be unresponsive, suffering from a brain bleed, and showed signs of bruising to her neck consistent with strangulation.

During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and the Seaside Heights Police Department quickly determined that Emiliano Davila, 41, of Keansburg, New Jersey, was one of the two men who dropped Ms. O’Connor off at the medical center. Further investigation uncovered that Davila and Ms. O’Connor were dating, and that Davila had assaulted Ms. O’Connor on Sunday night at a Seaside Heights motel where she was living.

Police Charge Davila On Monday With Aggravated Assault

On Monday, November 3, 2025, Davila was taken into custody by Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force and the Brick Township Police Department and formally charged with Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault. He was processed on the charge and was remanded to the Ocean County Jail, pending a detention hearing in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey.

Ms. O’Connor Dies Of Her Injuries

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Ms. O’Connor tragically succumbed to her injuries, allegedly inflicted by Davila, and was pronounced deceased. The following day, on November 6, 2025, the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office performed a post-mortem examination of Ms. O’Connor. The Medical Examiner ruled the Cause of Death to be Blunt Force Trauma to the Head and the Manner of Death to be Homicide.

On Thursday, Charges Are Upgraded To Murder

Accordingly, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, Detectives filed an upgraded charge of first-degree Murder against Davila. He was served with the charge at the Ocean County Jail.
