BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Sunday, following an investigation, a 43-year-old Brick Township, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly driving intoxicated, and striking an electric bike, seriously injuring the bicyclist, and then fleeing the scene of the collision, which occurred late Saturday night in the Township.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, William Donohoe, 43, of Brick Township, was formally charged with Knowningly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury; and Assault By Auto. Donohoe was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Ocean County Jail pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey.
The charges stem from an investigation that began on Saturday, November 8, 2025, when, shortly before 11:00 p.m., members of the Brick Township Police Department responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash involving a car and a bicyclist at the intersection of Midstreams Road and Midstreams Place in the Township.
During the course of an ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad and the Brick Township Police Department quickly determined that a Nissan Rogue, being operated by Donohoe, was traveling Northbound on Midstreams Place when it made a left-hand turn onto Midstreams Road and struck an electric bicycle being operated by a 15-year-old boy.
Following the collision, the Nissan Rogue failed to stop and continued traveling Westbound on Midstreams Road. As a result of the crash, the 15-year-old boy sustained injuries and was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he remains and is listed in stable condition.
Donohoe Returns To The Scene On Foot
As responding Police Officers were rendering medical aid to the teenager, they observed Donohoe walking towards the crash scene from a distance away. During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers determined that Donohoe was the operator of the Nissan Rogue, who then fled the scene.
Police Officers quickly observed Donohoe to be apparently under the influence, and based on their suspicions, Police Officers performed a Field Sobriety Test that Donohoe failed. Based on the results, Donohoe was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence and was transported to Ocean University Medical Center, where he submitted to a court-authorized blood draw, and was later charged by Detectives with the above-listed charges.
