Police Charge Man In September 2025 Northeast Shots Fired Investigation

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Wednesday, a 40-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with firing a gun at a man in September 2024, in Northeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, and as previously reported, on Friday, September 26, 2025, just shortly after 12:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to the sounds of gunfire on the 500 Block of 60th Street in Northeast, D.C.
Victim Tells Police That He Was Fired At While In His Car
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim who reported that while he was driving out of the 500 Block of 60th Street, an unknown man opened fire at him, striking his vehicle and missing him. During the ensuing investigation, based on witness descriptions and area surveillance footage, Detectives identified the suspect as Dominic Lewis Hansberry, 40, of Northeast, D.C.
On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Detectives located and arrested Hansberry on the charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon; Unregistered Firearm; and Unregistered Ammunition. During the arrest, Detectives recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the September shooting.
Hansberry was processed on the charges and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
