Tuesday, November 18, 2025, 11:00 A.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ.- A 32-year-old Toms River, New Jersey, woman, formerly employed as a Police Officer with the Toms River Township Police Department, will be facing up to 180 days in the Ocean County Jail when sentenced early next year, after pleading guilty yesterday to multiple criminal offenses in connection with a domestic dispute involving her ex-boyfriend that occurred earlier this year in Berkeley Twonship, New Jersey.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Monday, November 17, 2025, Rebecca Sayegh, 32, of Toms River, New Jersey, appeared in Ocean County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan to one count of Burglary; one count of Criminal Mischief; and a Disorderly Persons Offense of Simple Assault.

In Return For The Guilty Plea, Sayegh Will Spend 180 Days In The County Jail

In return for the guilty plea, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office will recommend that Sayegh be sentenced to a term of 180 days in the Ocean County Jail as a condition of probation. Additionally, Sayegh was required to forfeit her employment with the Toms River Township Police Department and will be barred from seeking any future public employment in the State of New Jersey. Sayegh will also be required to make restitution and have no contact with the victims.

Following entering her guilty plea, Judge Ryan accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for January 16, 2025.

The charges and Monday’s guilty plea stem from an incident that unfolded on April 25, 2025, when, shortly before 11:30 p.m., members of the Berkeley Township Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on Evernham Avenue in the Township.

Upon arrival, Police Officers encountered Sayegh, an off-duty Toms River Township Police Officer, who had smashed the front glass door and entered the residence. Responding Police Officers also determined that Sayegh had damaged the hood of one of the victim’s motor vehicles that was parked in the driveway of the home. Sayegh was located at the scene and was taken into custody after resisting Berkeley Township Police Officers who were attempting to place her under arrest.

Following her arrest, she was formally charged, processed, and transported to the Ocean County Jail. She was later released on monitoring conditions.
