MILLVILLE, NJ.- On Monday, a 26-year-old former Millville, New Jersey, man learned he will be spending at least the next three decades in New Jersey State Prison, after being sentenced for the 2023 domestic violence strangling death of his ex-girlfriend in Millville, New Jersey.

According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, on Monday, November 17, 2025, Steven Gonzalez, 26, formerly of Millville, New Jersey, appeared in Cumberland County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Cristen P. D’Arrigo to 35 years in State Prison, after he pleaded guilty in late September to one count of first-degree Murder.

Judge D’Arrigo Ordsdred Gonzalez Ro Serve At Least 30 Years

In handing down the sentence on Monday, Judge D’Arrigo ordered Gonzalez to serve 30 years of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole pursuant to the No Early Release Act.

The guilty plea and Monday’s sentence stem from an investigation that began on July 3, 2023, when members of the Millville Police Department responded to a residence located on the 200 Block of Riverside Drive, in Millville, New Jersey, after receiving information regarding a possible homicide.

Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered the lifeless body of a 25-year-old Millville, New Jersey, woman, identified as T.C., having succumbed to strangulation-related injuries. Responding Police Officers located a note at the scene, left by Gonzalez, stating that he had murdered T.C. due to her recently breaking off their relationship.

Gonzalez was later arrested by Detectives from the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office and the Millville Police Department at a family member’s residence in Vineland, New Jersey, with assistance from members of the Vineland Police Department.
