PHILLIPSBURG, NJ.- Last Friday, a 20-year-old Phillipsburg, New Jersey, man learned he will be spending over five years in New Jersey State Prison after being sentenced for recklessly firing gunshots into a Phillipsburg, New Jersey home in early August of this year.

According to Acting Warren County Prosecutor Jessica L. Cardone, on Friday, November 21, 2025, Andrew Weaver, 20, of Phillipsburg, New Jersey, appeared in Warren County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge H. Matthew Curry to seven years in State Prison, subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Weaver to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.

Weaver had previously pleaded guilty to an indictment charging second-degree Aggravated Assault; and second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

Guilty Plea And Sentence Stems From August 3rd Shooting

The guilty plea and sentence stem from an investigation that began on August 3, 2025, when members of the Phillipsburg Police Department responded to a multi-shot ShotSpotter activation on the 400 Block of Anderson Street in the Town of Phillipsburg.

Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that a suspect had fired several shots at a residence, one of which pierced a window of the home, not striking anyone. During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers and Detectives recovered video footage that identified Weaver as the shooter, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Later that day, the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Weaver after State Troopers conducted a motor vehicle stop in which Weaver was a passenger. During the traffic stop, Troopers recovered a loaded Glock 9mm handgun in the vehicle.
