Monday, December 1, 2025, 8:15 A.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

LAKEWOOD TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Sunday, following an investigation, a 39-year-old Lakewood Township, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly starting a fire at a Lakewood Township residence and two additional brush fires along the railroad tracks in the Township.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Israel Salgado-Miron, 39, of Lakewood Township, New Jersey, was taken into custody and formally charged with Aggravated Arson; and two counts of Arson. He was processed on the charges and remanded to the Ocean County Jail pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey.

Charges Stem From A Saturday Night Arson Investigation

The charges stem from an incident that unfolded on Saturday, November 29, 2025, when, at around 10:30 p.m., members of the Lakewood Township Police Department and the Lakewood Township Fire Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a structure fire located on East Eighth Street in the Township.

Upon arrival, Police Officers and Firefighters located a fire in the basement window well of the structure. Shortly thereafter, Firefighters discovered two additional brush fires along the railroad tracks in the immediate area. Firefighters were quickly able to extinguish all three fires.

During the ensuing investigation, conducted by Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Arson Squad, the Lakewood Township Police Department, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, and Ocean County Fire Investigators quickly determined the origin of the structure fire on East Eighth Street was the basement window well, and the cause of the fire was incendiary by an unknown person using an open flame. Further investigation determined that the cause of the two brush fires was incendiary, committed by an unknown person who used a hot object to set a jackpot of fuel.

Continuing investigation led Detectives and Investigators to identify Salgado-Miron as the individual responsible for setting all three fires.
