WASHINGTON, DC.- Last Wednesday, a 13-year-old boy was taken into custody and detained after being charged in connection with a snatch-and-grab robbery that occurred last month in Northwest, D.C.

According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Friday, November 14, 2025, at around 8:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a robbery on the 1000 Block of North Capitol Street in Northwest, D.C.

Upon arrival, Police Officers located a male victim, who reported that while walking along North Capitol Street, he was approached by a juvenile male, who quickly snatched his property and then fled the scene.

Based on a description provided by the victim and area video surveillance footage, Detectives identified the suspect, and a DC Superior Court Juvenile Custody Order was issued for his arrest.

Accordingly, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, pursuant to the DC Superior Court Custody Order, Detectives located and placed the 13-year-old boy under arrest. The teen was formally charged with one count of Robbery. He was processed on the charge and detained pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia Family Law Division.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: As in adult criminal cases, the charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and a juvenile defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
