WASHINGTON, DC.- On Tuesday, a 42-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with chasing two people with a knife earlier in the evening on Tuesday, in Northeast, D.C.

According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, just shortly before 6:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a man acting erratically with a knife on the 200 Block of Q Street in Northeast, D.C.

Upon arrival, Police Officers located a group of victims, and one of the victims informed Police Officers that while they were on Q Street, a suspect, identified as Anthony Campbell, 42, of Northeast, D.C., pulled out a knife and began waving it at them. None of the victims were injured in the incident.

Campbell was quickly taken into custody at the scene and was formally charged by Police Officers with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. He was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
