America Remembers The Fallen Of Pearl Harbor

Sunday, December 7, 2025, 11:00 A.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By The Staff From Englebrook Independent News,

O’AHU, HI.- On the morning of December 7, 1941, the peace of a quiet Sunday in Hawaii was shattered by a surprise military attack that would forever change the course of history. In less than two hours, 353 Imperial Japanese aircraft struck the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, killing 2,403 Americans, wounding more than 1,100, and sinking or damaging nearly 20 naval vessels, including eight battleships.

The attack propelled the United States into World War II, just one day after President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered his now-famous address describing the assault as “a date which will live in infamy.” What followed was a global conflict that claimed more than 400,000 American lives and reshaped the modern world.

Among those lost at Pearl Harbor were sailors trapped aboard the USS Arizona, where 1,177 crew members perished when the ship exploded and sank within minutes. Today, the Arizona remains a solemn underwater tomb and national memorial, visited by millions each year.

Eighty-four years later, Pearl Harbor stands not only as a symbol of tragic loss but also of American resilience, unity, and resolve. The attack awakened a nation and forged what became known as the “Greatest Generation,” men and women who answered the call to defend freedom across the globe.

On this Day of Remembrance, Englebrook Independent News honors every life lost, every family forever changed, and every veteran who carried the burden of that day forward. Their sacrifice is not confined to history books; it lives on in the freedoms we enjoy today.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
