Man Fatally Gunned Down Friday Night In Northeast, D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 20-year-old Washington, D.C., man that occurred Friday night in Northeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Friday, December 5, 2025, just shortly after 8:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District responded to a report of a person being shot inside an apartment located on the 300 Block of Morse Street in Northeast, D.C.

Police Officers Find Man Shot Dead

     Upon arrival, Police Officers entered the apartment and located Roy Lee Bennett, Jr., 20, of Northeast, D.C., who had succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Bennett was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported as Detectives continue the search for the suspect and a motive for the shooting.
