Police Charge Man In Tuesday Afternoon Southeast Shooting Incident

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Tuesday, a 33-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged with assault and weapons offenses, in connection with an altercation that occurred just shortly after 12:00 p.m., in Southeast, D.C.
On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at around 12:10 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of gunfire on the 2500 Block of Naylor Road in Southeast, D.C.
Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers learned that the victim and the suspect, identified as Shelby Walker, 33, of Southeast, D.C., became involved in an apparent altercation when Walker pulled out a handgun and fired a round at the victim, narrowly missing him. Police Officers determined that the victim was uninjured during the gunfire.
Police Officers Quickly Apprehend Suspect
Accordingly, shortly after the shooting, Walker was taken into custody and formally charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon; and Carrying a Firearm Without a Permit. He was processed on the charges and remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
