Police Continuing The Investigation Into Tuesday Morning’s North Bergen Fatal Collision

NORTH BERGEN, NJ.- Investigators of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Tuesday morning, claiming the life of a 66-year-old Hackensack, New Jersey, man.
According to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, just shortly before 6:30 a.m., members of the North Bergen Police Department responded to 911 Emergency Calls reporting an elderly man being struck by a bus near the intersection of Bergenline Avenue and JFK Boulevard East in North Bergen, New Jersey.
Police Officers Find Hackensack Man Critically Injured
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Alan Harris, 66, of Hackensack, New Jersey, lying in the roadway, suffering from multiple life-threatening injuries after being struck by an NJ Transit Bus. Mr. Harris was immediately transported to Palisades Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts, he tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
Following Mr. Harris’ death on Thursday, December 11, 2025, Investigators of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation, in conjunction with Detectives of the North Bergen Police Department, launched a joint investigation into the fatal collision.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made or summonses issued at this time.
