FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Friday, December 12, 2025, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago reported that a Jackson Township, New Jersey, man and woman have been criminally charged for their roles in a fatal Freehold, New Jersey, vehicle crash that tragically claimed the life of a juvenile boy.

Brandon John Delgado-Ortega, 27, of Jackson Township, was formally charged with third-degree Driving with a Suspended License; fourth-degree Hindering Prosecution, and multiple New Jersey State motor vehicle traffic summonses. Additionally, Lady Maite Cristobal Macuyama, 28, also of Jackson Township, was charged with fourth-degree Hindering Prosecution.

The charges stem from an investigation that began on Monday, November 10, 2025, when, at around 7:46 p.m., members of the Freehold Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a single vehicle crash that occurred in the area of Jackson Mills Road just north of Tree Top Circle in the Township.

Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered Delgado-Ortega and Macuyama, along with two juvenile passengers. Both juveniles were seated in the rear of the vehicle, with one of the juveniles having sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. The juvenile was immediately transported to a local hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, the juvenile male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Serious Collision Analysis Response Team and the Freehold Township Police Department determined that the driver was operating a 2004 Volvo S80 when the vehicle left the roadway. At the time of the initial response, Police Officers were unable to determine the driver of the vehicle.

Further investigation uncovered that Delgado-Ortega was the driver of the vehicle and was driving with a suspended license at the time the crash occurred, resulting in the charges being filed against both Delgado-Ortega and Macuyama.
