Police Charge Maryland Woman In Southeast, D.C., Armed Robbery

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Wednesday, an 18-year-old Capitol Heights, Maryland, woman was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the gunpoint robbery that occurred in late October in Southeast, D.C.
According to Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, and as previously reported, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at around 10:45 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery on the 300 Block of Anacostia Road in Southeast, D.C.
   Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers located a victim who reported that they drove to the 300 Block of Anacostia Road to meet with a suspect. When they arrived, the suspect entered the vehicle, sat inside, and quickly exited. Immediately after the suspect exited the car, two other suspects armed with handguns robbed the victim of their money and property before the victim eventually drove away. The suspects fled the scene, and the victim was uninjured in the robbery.
Based on a description provided by the victim and area video surveillance footage, Detectives were able to identify one of the suspects as Teyonna Barber, 18, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Police Officers Locate And Arrest Barber On Wednesday
On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Barber was located and taken into custody, and pursuant to the DC Superior Court warrant, Barber was formally charged with one count of Armed Robbery. She was processed on the charge and was remanded to custody pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. As of Wednesday, the two other suspects remain at large.
