WASHINGTON, DC.- On Monday, a 19-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with striking a man with a handgun inside last month, in Northwest, D.C.

According to Interim D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Jeffery W. Carroll, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, just shortly after 4:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of an assault on the 1400 Block of V Street in Northwest, D.C.

Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim who reported that they were inside a building located on V Street. A suspect approached them, pulled out a handgun, and struck him in the head with the gun, and then ran out of the building and fled in an unknown direction. The victim received minor injuries in the assault and was treated at the scene.

During the ensuing investigation, based on the description provided by the victim and building video surveillance footage, Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Taivon Scott, 19, of Northwest, D.C., and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Accordingly, on Monday, December 22, 2025, Scott was located and taken into custody and charged pursuant to the DC Superior Court warrant with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Scott was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings.
