KEARNY, NJ.- On Sunday, following an hours-long standoff with Police, a 44-year-old Kearny, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with shooting a 45-year-old Harrison, New Jersey, man to death with an arrow early Saturday evening in Kearny, New Jersey.
According to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at around 6:45 p.m., members of the Kearny Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an injured man lying on the sidewalk near the intersection of Kearny and Jackson Avenues in the Town of Kearny.
Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers found a man, later identified as Pablo Criollo, 45, of Harrison, New Jersey, who was suffering from a life-threatening injury after being struck in the chest by an arrow. Mr. Criollo was immediately transported by Emergency Medical Services to University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Criollo succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
During the initial investigation, Police Officers and Detectives developed information leading to Oscar Feijoo, 44, of Kearny, New Jersey, as a person of interest in the murder of Mr. Crillo.
When Police attempted to make contact with Feijoo at his Kearny, New Jersey, residence, Feijoo refused to exit his home and barricaded himself inside, and the Hudson County Regional SWAT responded to the scene. While members of the Hudson County Regional SWAT attempted to make contact with Feijoo, several fires were started inside the residence at around 5:00 a.m., Sunday, December 21, 2025, which resulted in a multi-alarm fire response.
Feijoo remained barricaded in the home for several hours following the fires being put out. Just shortly before 1:00 p.m., on Sunday, Feijoo exited the home armed with knives and was quickly taken into custody.
Accordingly, later in the day on Sunday, Feijoo was formally charged with first-degree Murder; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Aggravated Arson. He was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Hudson County Superior Court in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Mello has reported that more charges are expected to be filed against Feijoo.
“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
