BUFFALO, NY.- Last Tuesday, two Honduran nationals illegally in the United States learned they would be getting a free plane ticket back to Honduras after pleading guilty in Federal Court in Buffalo, New York, and being sentenced to time served for illegal reentry into the United States by deported aliens.
According to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, Arlen Saul Castillo, 29, and Jonathan Esteban Osario Lopez, 32, both of Honduras, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York and each pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Court Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford to Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.
Following entering their guilty pleas, Judge Wolford accepted the pleas and sentenced both Castillo and Osario Lopez to time served and ordered both men to be turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement Removal Operations, to be immediately removed from the United States back to Honduras.
According to the charging information filed with the District Court, it was determined that Castillo and Osario Lopez are citizens and nationals of Honduras without any legal status in the United States. On October 8, 2025, Border Patrol Officers encountered both men in Erie County, New York. During the encounter, neither Castillo nor Osario Lopez had documentation giving them legal status to be present in the United States, specifically Erie County, New York.
In December 2018, Castillo was physically removed from the United States. Osario Lopez was physically removed from the United States in August 2013 and again in December 2013.
U.S. Attorney DiGiacomo commended the investigative work of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, which led to the successful prosecution of Castillo and Osario Lopez.
