Police Locate Vehicle & Person Of Interest In Saturday Afternoon’s Union City Fatal Pedestrian Crash

UNION CITY, NJ.- Detectives of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Union City Police Department are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred late Saturday afternoon, which tragically claimed the life of an elderly Union City woman.
According to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, on Saturday, December 27, 2025, just shortly after 5:30 p.m., members of the Union City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a woman being struck by a motor vehicle in the area of 30th Street and Palisades Avenue in Union City, New Jersey.
Police Officers Find Elderly Woman In The Roadway
Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers found an elderly woman, later identified as Fabiola Bedoya, 83, of Union City, lying in the roadway, suffering from life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Ms. Bedoya was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts, Ms. Bedoya tragically succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
During the initial investigation, Detectives located the vehicle believed to be involved and identified a person of interest. No arrests or charges have been reported as of Sunday afternoon. The investigation remains ongoing and is actively being investigated by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit.
