Police Charge Man For Shooting A Woman On Monday In The City Of Paterson

PATERSON, NJ.- On Monday, a 40-year-old Paterson, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly shooting a 43-year-old woman earlier that day in the City of Paterson, New Jersey.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, on Monday, December 29, 2025, at around 5:30 a.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting in the area of Wayne and Crosby Avenues in the Northside neighborhood in the City of Paterson.
Upon Arrival, Police Officers Find 43-Year-Old Woman Shot
Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers located a 43-year-old woman suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The woman was immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where she underwent treatment.
During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers located a shooting crime scene at the location. Based on witness accounts and area video surveillance footage, Detectives were able to identify Imran Khan, 40, of Paterson, New Jersey, as the shooter.
Later in the day, on Monday, December 29, 2025, Detectives of the Paterson Police Department’s Shooting Investigation Unit located and arrested Khan in the area of Bergen Street and 12th Avenue in Newark, New Jersey.
Following being taken into custody, Khan was formally charged with second-degree Aggravated Assault; third-degree Aggravated Assault; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and third-degree Hindering Apprehension.
Khan was processed on the charges and was remanded to the custody of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office pending future court proceedings in Passaic County Superior Court in Paterson, New Jersey. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to detain Khan pending trial.
If convicted at trial, Khan faces between five and 10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
