WASHINGTON, DC.- On Saturday, a 15-year-old Washington, D.C., juvenile male was taken into custody and detained after being charged with robbery and related weapons offenses in connection with a gunpoint robbery that occurred earlier that day in Southeast, D.C.

According to Interim D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Jeffery W. Carroll, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at around 1:15 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an armed robbery on the 3200 Block of Henson Road in Southeast, D.C.

Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers located a victim who reported that the suspects had met with the victim to purchase a watch that the victim had advertised for sale on a social media platform. During the meeting, the suspects pulled out handguns and demanded the victim hand over the watch, and the suspects then additionally robbed the victim of their money and additional property. The suspects then fled the scene.

During the initial investigation, Police Officers and Detectives recovered area video surveillance footage that showed the suspects fleeing into a residence on the 1400 Block of Shippen Lane in Southeast, D.C.

At just minutes before 11:00 p.m., pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant, Police Officers and Detectives entered the residence and arrested a 15-year-old boy. During the search, Detectives located two firearms inside the residence.

Based on the Detectives’ ensuing investigation, early Sunday morning, January 4, 2026, Detectives formally charged the 15-year-old Southeast, D.C., boy with one count of Armed Robbery; Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Ammunition; Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device; and Receiving Stolen Property. The boy was processed on the charges and detained pending court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia Family Law Division.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: As in adult criminal cases, the charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and a juvenile defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
