Police Charge Man In Last Saturday’s Northeast, D.C. Assault

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Tuesday, a 56-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and detained after being charged in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred last Saturday in Northeast, D.C.
According to Interim D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Jeffrey W. Carroll, on Saturday, January 3, 2025, just shortly before 1:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of an assault on the 6200 Block of Dix Street in Northeast, D.C.
Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers located a victim who reported that while on Dix Street, they were approached by a suspect, who began kicking them. A second suspect allowed his dog to bite him, and a third suspect assaulted them before all three fled the scene.
On Tuesday, January 7, 2026, based on a description provided by the victim and area video surveillance footage, Police Officers located and arrested Dmminick Altamura, Jr., 56, of Northeast, D.C. Following being taken into custody, Altamura was formally charged with one count of Aggravated Assault; and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Altamura was processed on the charges and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, as the Police continue the search for the remaining two suspects.
