Police Charge Middle Township Man With Possession Of Child Pornography

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Thursday, following an online child pornography investigation, a 62-year-old Middle Township, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with possessing thousands of digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

     According to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland, Thomas L. Stitt, II, 62, of the Green Creek section of Middle Township, New Jersey, has been formally charged with one count of second-degree Possession of Child Pornography. He was processed on the charge and was remanded to the Cape May County Correctional Center pending future court proceedings in Cape May County Superior Court.

     The charge stems from an investigation that began when Detectives of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office High-Tech Crimes Unit & Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an individual who was utilizing the internet to view, download, and possess media files containing child pornography.

     During the ensuing investigation, Investigators identified an IP address associated with a Middle Township, New Jersey, residence and further identified Stitt as the owner of the IP address.

     On Thursday, January 8, 2026, as a result of the investigation, members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, the Middle Township Police Department, and the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, executed a court-authorized search warrant at Stitt’s Middle Township home.

     During the search, Investigation, Investigators seized multiple electronic devices. A preliminary examination of the devices uncovered digital images and video files og child pornography. At that time, Stitt was taken into custody and charged.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
