BLOOMSBURY, NJ.- On Monday, a 29-year-old Bloomsbury, New Jersey, man and child predator learned he will be spending the next half a decade in New Jersey State Prison after being sentenced for possessing digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

According to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renee M. Robeson, on Monday, January 12, 2026, Seth Maguire, 29, of Bloomsbury, New Jersey, appeared in Hunterdon County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Christopher J. Garrenger to 5 years in State Prison, after he previously pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree Possession of Child Pornography; and two counts of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for engaging in Sex Conduct with a Child.

In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Garrenger ordered Maquire, upon release from prison, to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and be subject to parole supervision for life.

The guilty plea and sentence are the result of an investigation that began when Investigators of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Forensic Services Unit received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an individual within the Hunterdon County, New Jersey, area who was utilizing the internet view, download, and possess media files of child pornography.

During the course of the investigation, Investigators identified an IP address that was associated with a Bloomsbury residence. Investigators also identified Maguire as the owner and user of the IP address. Further investigation additionally uncovered that Seth had been engaging in sexually explicit messaging with a child from Todd County, Kentucky, leading to his arrest and subsequent guilty plea.

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Robeson commended the investigative work of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Jersey State Police, and the Todd County, Kentucky Sheriff’s Office, which led to the successful prosecution of Maguire.
