INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR.- The long-running Arkansas child support case involving Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, has resurfaced after Lunden Roberts, the mother of his daughter, Navy Joan Roberts, filed a court motion seeking to have Biden jailed for allegedly defaulting on a previously entered child support agreement.
According to a report on the newly filed motion, Roberts is asking an Independence County judge to hold Biden in contempt of court and to order Biden’s incarceration as a coercive enforcement measure, arguing that prior remedies have failed to secure compliance with the agreement’s terms.
Allegations Outlined In The Filing;
In the motion, Roberts, through her attorneys, claims that Biden has not complied with obligations established under a 2023 settlement that resolved years of litigation between the parties. That agreement followed prolonged disputes over financial support and related terms after Biden was legally confirmed as the child’s father.
Public reporting on the filing indicates that the settlement included a reduced monthly child support payment, as well as a provision involving Biden’s artwork. That artwork clause was reportedly designed to provide a financial benefit to the child and, according to the filing as described by media outlets, to establish a tangible connection between father and daughter.
The motion further alleges that Biden has failed to meaningfully honor those provisions and asserts that the ongoing dispute has had emotional consequences for the child. Roberts’ filing reportedly raises concerns not only about payments, but also about Biden’s overall compliance with the spirit and letter of the agreement.
As of publication, no public response from Biden’s legal team has been reported, and it is not yet clear whether the court has scheduled a hearing on the contempt request.
Case Background;
Roberts initiated the paternity and child support case in Arkansas in 2019. The litigation drew national attention due to Biden’s family ties and continued through multiple court phases, appeals, and disputes over financial disclosures and support calculations.
In June 2023, the parties reached a settlement that ended the then-pending child support litigation. While the agreement resolved the case at that time, many of its terms were not fully disclosed publicly, leaving enforcement questions to be addressed through subsequent court filings.
What The Court Will Consider Next;
Under Arkansas law, a contempt motion in a child support case typically requires the court to determine whether a valid court order exists, whether the accused party had the ability to comply, and whether any failure to do so was willful. Judges may order remedies ranging from payment schedules and attorney’s fees to incarceration intended to compel compliance.
Roberts’ motion specifically requests the latter, placing the matter once again before the Independence County court for judicial review and determination.
