Monday, January 19, 2026, 12:45 P.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Friday, January 16, 2026, Rebecca Sayegh, 32, of Toms River, New Jersey, formally employed with the Toms River Township Police Department, appeared in Ocean County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan to a term of three years of probation for her previously entered guilty plea to crimes that occurred during a domestic dispute in April 2025, in Berkeley Township, New Jersey.

In handing down the sentence, Judge Ryan additionally ordered Sayegh to pay restitution for the damage she caused and to have no contact with the victims. As part of her sentence.

On November 17, 2025, Sayegh previously appeared before Judge Ryan and pleaded guilty to Burglary; Criminal Mischief; and Simple Assault. During her plea allocution, Sayegh agreed to forfeit her public employment as a Police Officer with the Toms River Township Police Department, effective on that date, November 17, 2025, and be barred from any future public employment.

The guilty plea and Friday’s sentence stem from an incident that began on April 25, 2025, when, shortly before 11:30 p.m., members of the Berkeley Township Police Department responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence located on Evernhan Avenue in the Township.

Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered Sayegh, who was off-duty at the time, had smashed the front door of the residence and entered the home of her ex-boyfriend and assaulted him and his new girlfriend. It was also discovered that Sayegh had damaged the hood of a vehicle of one of the victims, which was parked in the driveway.

Sayegh was located at the scene and was taken into custody after resisting Police Officers who attempted to place her under arrest.
