ENGLEWOOD, NJ.- On Sunday, following a swift-moving investigation, a 36-year-old Englewood, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with shooting a woman during the early morning hours on Sunday, January 18, 2026, inside an Englewood, New Jersey, residence.

According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Sunday, January 18, 2026, just shortly before 4:00 a.m., members of the Englewood Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at a residence located on Charles Street in Englewood.

Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers found a woman who had been struck by gunfire in the arm and shoulder. The woman was immediately transported by Emergency Medical Services to HMH Hackensack University Medical Center, where she underwent treatment for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and is currently listed in stable condition.

During the initial investigation, a suspect, later identified as Christian D. Parra-Pescoso, 36, of Englewood, New Jersey, was taken into custody by Englewood Police Officers.

During an ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Englewood Police Department quickly determined that Parra-Pescoso assaulted the woman by striking her in the head with the handgun, causing a laceration to her head, and then firing the gun multiple times, striking the woman.

Accordingly, later in the day, on Sunday, January 18, 2026, Detectives formally charged Parra-Pescoso with one count of first-degree Attempted Murder; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; third-degree Aggravated Assault; and fourth-degree Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Magazine.

Parra-Pescoso was processed on the charges and was transported to Englewood Health & Medical Center for medical evaluation before he was ultimately remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
