PITTSBURGH, PA.- Last Monday, a 31-year-old Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, woman, and an admitted child predator, learned she will be facing up to three decades in federal prison when sentenced this spring after pleading guilty to distributing and possessing digital images and video files depicting the horrific sexual exploitation and abuse of children, including many of infants.

According to First Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti, on Monday, January 12, 2026, Marissa Lynn Segal, 31, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan to Distributing Child Pornography; and Possession of Child Pornography.

Following entering her guilty plea, Judge Ranjan accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for April 27, 2026. At that time, Segal faces a maximum of 30 years in federal prison, at least 5 years, and up to a lifetime of supervised release, as well as a $500,000 fine. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offenses and Segal’s prior criminal history.

According to the charging information filed with the District Court, on July 14, 2024, Segal distributed media files depicting the sexual exploitation of a child, including digital images and video files of infants and prepubescent children engaged in acts of bestiality, through a mobile application. Additionally, Segal possessed child pornography, including video files of prepubescent children engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Rivetti commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation that led to Segal’s arrest and guilty plea.

Segal will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending sentencing.
