Charges Stem From A Child Sex Crimes Investigation
The charges stem from an investigation that began in April 2025, when the Manville Police Department contacted members of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an allegation that an adult male showed a 12-year-old Manville, New Jersey girl sexually explicit photos on his cellular phone and then masturbated in front of her.
During the ensuing investigation and following interviewing witnesses, including the child victim, Detectives executed a court-authorized search warrant at Vielma-Hernandez’s Somerville residence. During the search, Detectives seized Vielma-Hernandez’s cellular phone. During a subsequent forensic examination of the device, Investigators uncovered sexually explicit images. At the conclusion of the investigation, Detectives of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Manville Police Department found probable cause to believe that sex crimes had been committed against the victim, which led to the above charges being filed.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
