Atlantic City Man Convicted In September 2022 Fatal Pedestrian Collision

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- A 28-year-old Atlantic City, New Jersey, man will be facing up to ten years in New Jersey State Prison when sentenced after being found guilty last Tuesday, for fatally running down a 76-year-old Atlantic City, New Jersey, man back in early September of 2022.
According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, following a trial in Atlantic County Superior Court, a jury found Harris Jacobs, 28, of Atlantic City, guilty of second-degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident, for causing the death of Orlando Fraga, 76, of Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Evidence presented at trial proved beyond a reasonable doubt that on September 4, 2022, just shortly after 3:30 a.m., Jacobs fatal struck Mr. Fraga on the 1800 Block of Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Area video surveillance footage showed that Jacobs got out of his car on two separate occasions and leaned over Mr. Fraga’s body lying in the roadway. Jacobs then returned to his vehicle and drove away, without notifying law enforcement, leaving Mr. Fraga fatally injured in the road.
   Prosecutor Reyolds commended the investigative work of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Investigations Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department for their roles in the investigation and Jacobs’ conviction last Tuesday
