TRENTON, NJ.- Late last week, a 47-year-old South Amboy, New Jersey, man learned he will be spending the next decade and a half in federal prison, after being sentenced for receiving and possessing digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of a child.

According to U.S. Senior Counsel Philip Lamparello, on Thursday, January 22, 2026, Jeremy Greenwald, 47, of South Amboy, New Jersey, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge to 180 months in federal prison, to be followed by 15 years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea to federal child pornography offenses.

Greenwald previously appeared in Federal Court in Trenton, New Jersey, and pleaded guilty to a two-count federal information charging him with one count of Receipt of Child Pornography; and one count of Possession of Child Pornography.

According to documents filed with the District Court, beginning in May 2022 and lasting through February 2023, Greenwald utilized an online chat application to communicate with a child from outside New Jersey. Greenwald coerced, enticed, and persuaded the child to create and send him digital images and video files of her engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

On multiple occasions, Greenwald directed the young girl to perform certain sexual acts using items Greenwald had purchased and sent to her to be used in the sexually explicit videos, including sex toys and costumes, and Greenwald then paid the child money for those digital images and video files.

During the investigation, a court-authorized search of Greenwald’s electronic devices uncovered additional digital images and video files of the sexual exploitation and abuse of children, including many of prepubescent children engaging in sexual acts.

U.S. Senior Counsel Lamparello commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, for the successful prosecution of Greenwald.
