Former Plainfield School Teacher Sentenced For Receiving & Possessing Child Pornography

NEWARK, NJ.- On Wednesday, a 27-year-old Somerville, New Jersey, man, formally employed as a Plainfield, New Jersey school teacher, learned he will be spending over six years in federal prison, after being sentenced for receiving and possessing digital images and video files depicting child pornography.
According to U.S. Senior Counsel Philip Lamparello, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Jack Wilder, 27, of Somerville, New Jersey, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Jamel K. Semper to 87 months in federal prison, to be followed by a term of supervised release after previously pleading guilty to federal child pornography offenses.
Wilder previously appeared in Federal Court in Newark, New Jersey, and pleaded guilty before Judge Semper to a federal information charging him with one count of Receipt of Child Pornography; and one count of Possession of Child Pornography.
According to the charging documents and statements made in the District Court, in July 2024, while employed as a teacher at a Plainfield, New Jersey school, Investigators executed a court-authorized search of Wilder’s cellular phone and uncovered digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children. Then, again in May 2025, when Federal Agents arrested Wilder, they uncovered additional media files of child pornography on a second cellular phone.
U.S. Senior Counsel Lamparello commended the investigative work of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, which led to the successful prosecution of Wilder.
