Police Charge Man In October 2025, Southeast, D.C. Assault

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Saturday, a 34-year-old Cheverly, Maryland, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with beating a man with a chair that occurred in late October 2025, in Southeast, D.C., while Police continue their search for the second suspect.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Jeffrey Carroll, on Thursday, October 23, 2026, just shortly after 1:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of an assault on the 300 Block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Southeast, D.C.

     Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers located a victim who reported that while within the 300 Block of Pennsylvania Avenue, they were approached by two men, who began to assault and then struck them with a chair before fleeing the area. The victim received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital for treatment and has since been released.

     On Saturday, January 31, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant, members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Apprehension Unit located and arrested Korey Klimes, 34, of Cheverly, Maryland. Klimes was formally charged with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. He was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. The D.C.
