BARNEGAT TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Thursday, following an investigation, a 28-year-old Barnegat Township, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with distributing more than a thousand digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the charges stem from an investigation that began when Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office were contacted by the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force after receiving a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an individual in the Ocean County, New Jersey area who was utilizing the internent to send and receive child pornography.

During the ensuing investigation, Detectives and Investigators from the Ocean County High Tech Crime Squad identified an IP address associated with a Barnegat Township, New Jersey, residence as the location from which the individual was accessing and sharing digital images of child pornography from the internet utilizing the Instant Messaging application Kik. Detectives and Investigators ultimately linked Fabian Lugo-Sanchez, 28, of Barnegat Township, to the Kik Instant Messenger account.

Further investigation into Lugo-Sanchez’s Kik messenger accounts uncovered that he had shared over 1,000 media files containing child pornography.

Accordingly, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, Lugo-Sanchez surrendered himself with his attorney to Detectives at the Barnegat Township Police Department, where he was processed on one count of Distribution of Child Pornography; and Possession of Child Pornography. Following being processed on the charges, Lugo-Sanchez was remanded to the Ocean County Jail pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey.
