BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, a 43-year-old former Brick Township, New Jersey, man convicted early last year on multiple narcotics offenses was returned to New Jersey after being taken into custody on January 15, 2026, in Mexico by members of the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, an investigation began in December 2017, when the Clayton Township Police Department uncovered that a large greenhouse had been built behind a vacant house on Delsea Drive in the Township. During the investigation, Detectives and Investigators additionally uncovered that the residence was utilizing large amounts of water and electricity, and had also received large freight deliveries of materials consistent with an illegal marijuana growing facility.

A subsequent search of tax records revealed that the Clayton Township residence was owned by Jason Bacon, 43, who also maintained a residence in Brick Township, New Jersey.

On April 26, 2018, Law Enforcement Officers executed court-authorized search warrants on the Clayton Township and Brick Township, New Jersey, residences. During the search, Detectives and Investigators uncovered and seized over 25 pounds of marijuana, more than five pounds of hashish, and hashish products, marijuana plants, paraphernalia consistent with growing marijuana, and a loaded .25 caliber handgun.

Bacon was taken into custody at the Brick Township home and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he was formally charged and detained. Following a court hearing in April 2019, an Ocean County Superior Court Judge ordered Bacon’s release on monitoring conditions.

A subsequent review of Bacon’s bank records determined that he had deposited more than 400,000 in illicit proceeds from illegal narcotics revenue into his bank accounts between 2013 and 2018. In addition, Investigators determined that Bacon failed to pay income tax on his illegal income.

On January 14, 2025, Bacon’s trial began before Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey. Bacon failed to appear for trial, which was conducted in his absence.

On January 30, 2025, the jury found Bacon guilty of two counts of Maintaining a Controlled Dangerous Substance Facility; Possession of More than 25 Pounds of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute; Possession of More than Five Pounds of Hashish with Intent to Distribute; Possession of More than Five Pounds but Less than 25 Pounds of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute; two counts of Possession of More than 50 Grams of Marijuana; Possession of More than Five Grams of Hashish; Possession of Cocaine; Possession of a Firearm During a Controlled Dangerous Substance Offense; Financial Facilitation; and four counts of Failure to File Income Tax Returns and Pay Income Tax.

Bacon is currently being detained in the Ocean County Jail and has been scheduled to be sentenced before Judge Ryan on April 17, 2026.
