MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Three Trenton men have been arrested and charged in connection with a residential burglary of an occupied home in Montgomery Township, following a multi-agency investigation that included police K-9 tracking and aerial drone assistance, Somerset County authorities announced.

Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, alongside Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., Somerset County Sheriff Darrin Russo, and Montgomery Township Chief of Police Silvio Bet, identified the defendants as Devoris Daniels, 20; Mekai Wright, 24; and Lloyd Beard-Julius, 30, all of Trenton, New Jersey.

According to Prosecutor McDonald, the burglary occurred on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at approximately 10:53 p.m., when Montgomery Township Police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a burglary in progress at an occupied residence on Remy Court. The caller reported hearing suspicious noises and discovering broken glass from a basement window.

Responding officers arrived at the scene and located a male suspect, later identified as Daniels, in the driveway of the residence. Authorities said Daniels refused officers’ commands to stop and fled on foot into the backyard. During the pursuit, officers observed Daniels re-enter the home through a broken basement window. He was apprehended inside the residence, where he was found hiding in a closet.

Additional law enforcement resources were deployed to secure the area and locate any remaining suspects. A Somerset County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit assisted with tracking efforts, while the Bernards Township Police Department provided drone assets to support the search from above.

The investigation continued into the following morning, December 17, 2025, with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Burglary Task Force working alongside Montgomery Township Police detectives. Investigators determined that two additional suspects were involved and that a 2022 Nissan Altima had been used in the commission of the burglary.

Detectives later located the vehicle in Trenton and established physical surveillance. When Wright was observed entering the vehicle, officers initiated a motor vehicle stop. Authorities said Wright immediately fled on foot but was apprehended following a brief pursuit.

Through further investigative efforts, detectives identified Beard-Julius as the third suspect. A warrant for his arrest was issued and entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database. On January 28, 2026, Beard-Julius was arrested by the Mount Laurel Police Department in Burlington County on unrelated charges and subsequently served with the Somerset County warrant.

The defendants face the following charges:

  • Devoris Daniels is charged with second-degree burglary of an occupied structure and fourth-degree resisting arrest/eluding.
  • Mekai Wright is charged with second-degree burglary of an occupied structure, criminal mischief, and obstruction, the latter two being disorderly persons offenses.
  • Lloyd Beard-Julius is charged with second-degree burglary of an occupied structure and criminal mischief, a disorderly persons offense.

Daniels and Wright were remanded to the Somerset County Jail pending Superior Court detention hearings. Beard-Julius was remanded to the Burlington County Jail while awaiting court proceedings in Somerset County.

Prosecutor McDonald commended the Montgomery Township Police Department, the Bernards Township Police Department, the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Burglary Task Force for their coordinated response and timely sharing of critical information, which he said led to the swift identification and apprehension of all suspects.
