Prosecutors Say Witness Found Suspect Bleeding, Holding A Knife, & A Woman Inside The Home With Multiple Stab Wounds

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ.- A Gloucester County man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the stabbing of a woman early Friday morning inside a West Deptford home, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
Randall D. Bilger, 61, of West Deptford, New Jersey, has been charged with first-degree attempted murder and third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns announced.
Incident Details;
According to prosecutors, officers from the West Deptford Police Department responded early Friday morning after a witness placed a 911 call reporting that Bilger was bleeding and holding a knife. The witness had gone to the residence to check on an adult female victim.
The prosecutor’s office stated that the witness initially found the front door of the home locked. After walking to the rear of the residence, Bilger allegedly answered the back door while holding a knife and covered in blood. Prosecutors said Bilger told the witness, “It’s not a good time.”
When police arrived, Bilger came to the front door but refused repeated commands to exit the residence, authorities said. Officers then entered the home, took Bilger into custody, and located the woman inside suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Victim’s Condition;
According to the prosecutor’s office, the victim reported that she had been stabbed in the shoulder earlier in the incident and was later stabbed again in the abdomen shortly before the witness arrived at the residence. She was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Her current condition has not been publicly disclosed.
Charges And Court Proceedings;
Bilger was charged with first-degree attempted murder, which carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison, and third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, which carries a potential sentence of up to five years.
Prosecutors said Bilger was expected to make his first appearance in court on Saturday, February 14. 2026.
The investigation was conducted by the West Deptford Police Department, with assistance from the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
