Head-On Collision Along Route 27 Claims The Life Of Colonia Woman, Leaves Two Others Seriously Injured

WOODBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, NJ.- A fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred late Wednesday night in Woodbridge Township remains under active investigation, according to authorities.
Linda Estremera, Middlesex County Prosecutor, and Joseph Nisky, Director of the Woodbridge Police Department, announced that the crash occurred on February 18, 2026, at approximately 10:36 p.m., along Route 27 North, near Deepa Auto Repair.
Police said Officers from the Woodbridge Police Department responded to the scene following reports of a serious crash. Upon arrival, investigators determined that a 2013 Hyundai Tucson and a 2025 Nissan Altima were involved in a head-on collision.
The Hyundai Tucson was being driven by a 28-year-old male from Iselin, while the Nissan Altima was operated by a 22-year-old female from Colonia. Authorities said the front-seat passenger of the Altima, a 21-year-old woman from Colonia, and the driver of the Hyundai Tucson both sustained serious injuries and were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment. Officials confirmed that the driver of the Hyundai remains in critical condition.
The driver of the Nissan Altima was transported to JFK Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. Her identity has not been released, pending proper notification of next of kin.
Authorities emphasized that the circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation. No additional details regarding contributing factors have been released at this time.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has surveillance or dash-camera footage from the area around Route 27 North near Deepa Auto Repair to come forward.
