PLEASANTVILLE, NJ.- An Atlantic County, New Jersey, man will serve a state prison sentence following a series of violent domestic assaults and a related theft offense that occurred in the spring of 2025, authorities confirmed.

     On Thursday, February 26, 2026, Seth Carr, 25, of Pleasantville, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and was sentenced by the Honorable Joseph Levin, J.S.C., to five years in New Jersey State Prison. The sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act (NERA), requiring Carr to serve 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

     The sentence follows Carr’s guilty pleas to two counts of second-degree Aggravated Assault on a Domestic Violence Victim and one count of third-degree Theft.

April 17, 2025, Assault Investigation;

     According to authorities, the case began on April 17, 2025, when officers with the Pleasantville Police Department responded to a residence on Ridgewood Avenue in reference to a reported domestic assault.

     Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who reported that Carr had strangled her to the point where she began to lose consciousness. The victim further stated that Carr repeatedly punched her during the assault. During the course of that attack, Carr reportedly broke his own hand.

     Investigators later described the incident as the first in a series of escalating acts of violence.

Hospitalization And Unauthorized Transaction;

     On April 29, 2025, the victim was admitted to a hospital in Galloway Township, New Jersey.

     While the victim remained hospitalized, Carr was in possession of her cellular phone in Pleasantville. Authorities allege that on May 3, 2025, Carr used the victim’s phone to transfer $600 from her bank account to himself via Apple Pay without authorization.

     After being discharged from the hospital on May 5, 2025, the victim discovered the unauthorized transaction and reported the theft to the Pleasantville Police Department.

May 16, 2025, Assault And Arrest;

     Less than two weeks later, on May 16, 2025, Pleasantville Police officers again responded to the Ridgewood Avenue residence in reference to another domestic assault.

     Officers observed visible bruising on the victim’s head and face. The victim reported that Carr had thrown her to the floor and repeatedly slammed her head into the ground.

     Medical personnel later determined that the victim suffered bleeding on the brain and a fractured sternum as a result of the assault. She was transported to the hospital for treatment.

     Carr was arrested at the scene.

Guilty Pleas And Sentencing;

     Carr pleaded guilty on October 10, 2025, to two counts of second-degree aggravated assault involving a domestic violence victim. On January 30, 2026, he entered an additional guilty plea to third-degree theft related to the unauthorized $600 Apple Pay transaction.

     Under New Jersey’s No Early Release Act, individuals convicted of certain violent crimes must serve at least 85 percent of their sentence before parole eligibility. As a result, Carr will be required to serve the majority of his five-year term before any consideration for release.

     The case was investigated by the Pleasantville Police Department.
