Former President To Be Deposed By U.S. House Oversight Committee In Chappaqua As Scrutiny Of His Ties To Jeffrey Epstein Resurfaces & Intensifies

Friday, February 27, 2026, 10:45 A.M. ET. 4 Minute Read, By Jennifer Hodges, Political Editor: Englebrook Independent News,

CHAPPAQUA, NY.- Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to sit for a closed-door deposition today in Chappaqua, New York, where he will be questioned under oath by the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform regarding his past relationship with the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

     The deposition is part of a Republican-led congressional inquiry examining Epstein’s network of political, financial, and social connections. Committee Chairman James Comer has stated publicly that the Clintons are not currently accused of wrongdoing. Nonetheless, investigators have said they intend to question the former president about the extent and nature of his association with Epstein.

     The proceeding follows a separate closed-door session on Thursday with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who told investigators she did not know Epstein, could not recall encountering him, and never visited his properties. After her testimony, she characterized portions of the questioning as repetitive and said some lines of inquiry veered into unrelated and widely debunked conspiracy theories.

Documented Contacts And Travel;

     Public records and prior reporting have long confirmed that Bill Clinton had contact with Epstein during the early 2000s.

     According to previously released White House visitor logs and investigative reporting, Epstein visited the White House multiple times during Clinton’s presidency. Clinton has publicly stated that he severed ties with Epstein in or around 2005.

     Flight logs released in prior legal proceedings show Clinton traveled on Epstein’s private aircraft several times in the early 2000s, including trips connected to philanthropic initiatives in Africa. Clinton has consistently maintained that he never visited Epstein’s private Caribbean island and that he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal conduct at the time of their association.

     Epstein pleaded guilty in Florida state court in 2008 to solicitation of a minor. In 2019, he was federally charged in New York with sex trafficking of minors. He died in federal custody in August 2019 while awaiting trial. His death was ruled a suicide by the New York City medical examiner.

     Clinton has never been charged with any crime related to Epstein.

Justice Department Disclosures Renew Attention;

     Earlier this year, materials released in connection with Epstein-related litigation included photographs of Clinton among other prominent individuals. Media outlets reported that some images showed Clinton in social settings connected to Epstein; however, no evidence in the released materials directly accused Clinton of criminal conduct.

     Even so, the optics remain politically damaging. The continued surfacing of records, photographs, and travel logs has kept Clinton’s past association with Epstein in the public conversation, raising lingering questions about judgment, proximity, and what prominent figures knew about Epstein’s behavior prior to his 2008 conviction.

Closed-Door Format And Next Steps;

     Today’s deposition is being conducted behind closed doors in Chappaqua, where the Clintons reside. Committee leadership has indicated that video of the testimony may be released at a later date.

     Chairman Comer has stated that the committee has “a lot of questions” and maintains that the inquiry is a legitimate exercise of congressional oversight. Democrats have criticized the investigation as politically motivated.

     At the center of the deposition is a question that has shadowed Clinton for years: What did he know about Epstein, and when did he know it?

     Clinton has repeatedly stated that he was unaware of Epstein’s crimes during the period of their contact and that their interactions were limited and connected to philanthropic or international initiatives.

     Still, the spectacle of a former president answering sworn questions about travel aboard a now-infamous private jet and association with a man later exposed as a serial sexual predator underscores how the Epstein scandal continues to reverberate across the political establishment.

     Whether today’s testimony clarifies long-standing questions or merely reopens them may depend on what the Oversight Committee ultimately chooses to make public.
