WASHINGTON, DC.- The Metropolitan Police Department has announced the arrest of a 28-year-old man in connection with a violent assault that left two men injured on Monday evening in Northwest Washington.

According to police, officers assigned to the department’s Third District responded at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026, to the 1300 block of Park Road Northwest after receiving a report of an unconscious person.

Investigators say the incident began as a verbal dispute between the suspect and an adult male victim, which rapidly escalated into a physical confrontation.

Police allege that during the altercation, the suspect struck the victim with a glass bottle, using the object as a dangerous weapon. The force of the strike caused the victim to fall to the ground. Authorities say the suspect then continued the assault after the victim had already fallen, further injuring him.

During the attack, a second adult male attempted to intervene in an effort to stop the violence. According to police, the suspect then assaulted the second individual as well, leaving him unconscious by the time officers arrived on the scene.

When responding officers reached the location, they discovered both victims were injured.

Emergency personnel from the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department were dispatched to the scene to provide medical care. Officials said the first victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the second victim received treatment at the scene for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Authorities identified the suspect as Henry Salazara, 28, with no known address.

Police reported that Salazara was taken into custody without incident and subsequently charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Bottle) and Aggravated Assault, both serious felony offenses under District of Columbia law.

Investigators have not publicly identified the victims, and officials have not disclosed whether the individuals involved were previously acquainted or what specifically triggered the initial dispute.

The case remains under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.
