CHICAGO, IL.- In February 2026, federal law enforcement in the Northern District of Illinois secured a series of major actions: a Chicago jury-convicted sex trafficker was sentenced to 28 years in prison for trafficking and kidnapping multiple victims; a Chicago man received more than four years for robbing a U.S. postal carrier; and another defendant pleaded guilty to the robbery of a Rockford post office. Federal prosecutors also unsealed an indictment charging an alleged boss of Mexico’s violent Sinaloa Cartel with drug, firearm, and material support of terrorism offenses, and in Chicago, a convenience store owner was sentenced to four years for defrauding the federally funded Women, Infants, and Children nutrition program. Federal gun and narcotics task force arrests continue to advance public safety under U.S. Attorney Andrew S. Boutros.
