24-Year-Old Neptune Township Woman Killed After Early-Morning Collision On State Route 35; Authorities Say Investigation Remains Ongoing

NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Authorities in Monmouth County are continuing to investigate a fatal early-morning collision that claimed the life of a 24-year-old Neptune Township woman Thursday, according to officials.
Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced Friday that the incident occurred on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at approximately 2:10 a.m. Police Officers with the Neptune Township Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of State Route 35 and West Lake Avenue following reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 2013 Honda Accord driven by an adult male was traveling southbound on State Route 35 when it struck a woman who was in the roadway.
The pedestrian was later identified as Amani E. Turner, 24, of Neptune Township.
Emergency responders transported Turner to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at approximately 2:24 a.m., authorities said.
Officials confirmed that the driver of the Honda Accord remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators.
The circumstances surrounding how Turner came to be in the roadway at the time of the collision remain under review.
The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Neptune Township Police Department.
Authorities have emphasized that the case remains active and ongoing, and investigators are continuing to gather evidence, review roadway conditions, and determine the sequence of events leading up to the fatal crash.
As of Friday, no charges or traffic summonses have been issued in connection with the incident.
Officials are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information that could assist investigators to come forward.
