Puerto Rico Most-Wanted Suspect Charged in Drug Case After Multi-Agency Investigation

CAMDEN, NJ.- A Pennsylvania man listed among the ten most wanted fugitives in Ponce, Puerto Rico, has been arrested in Camden and charged with serious narcotics offenses following a coordinated, multi-agency investigation, authorities announced.

Domitilo Delgado-Ruiz, 50, of Reading, Pennsylvania, is facing charges of first-degree possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay.

The arrest stems from an investigation initiated in February 2026, when detectives with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force received intelligence regarding a suspect believed to be transporting a significant quantity of cocaine. The individual was reportedly operating a Toyota minivan in the vicinity of Penn Street and North Sixth Street in Camden, New Jersey.

Authorities determined that the vehicle was registered to an address in Reading, Pennsylvania, prompting a coordinated surveillance effort spanning both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Detectives from multiple agencies monitored the suspect’s movements before executing a vehicle stop in Camden on February 27, 2026.

During the stop, law enforcement identified the driver as Delgado-Ruiz. A records check revealed that he was wanted by authorities in Puerto Rico as a fugitive from justice in connection with an attempted murder case. He was immediately taken into custody and transported to the Camden County Correctional Facility, where he is being held pending extradition to Puerto Rico.

Subsequent to the arrest, Detectives conducted a search of the minivan and recovered more than 12 ounces of suspected cocaine, officials said. The discovery led to the filing of the narcotics charges now pending against Delgado-Ruiz.

“We commend the outstanding work of our law enforcement partners whose diligence and coordination led to the arrest of a fugitive wanted in Puerto Rico,” Prosecutor MacAulay said in a statement. “Through persistent surveillance and teamwork across jurisdictions, detectives successfully apprehended a suspected narcotics trafficker and removed a significant quantity of drugs from our streets. Their dedication and commitment to public safety continue to make our communities safer.”

The investigation was conducted by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office HIDTA Task Force, with assistance from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, Berlin Township Police Department, Berks County District Attorney’s Office, and the Reading Police Department.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the attempted murder case in Puerto Rico or a timeline for extradition proceedings.
