MAYS LANDING, NJ.- A Somers Point man has been sentenced to an aggregate eight-year term in New Jersey State Prison following convictions tied to a multi-defendant financial crime investigation and subsequent law enforcement encounters across Atlantic County.
Dennis Page II, 33, was sentenced on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, to eight years in state prison, with a period of parole ineligibility set at three and a half years. The sentence stems from charges including second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, third-degree theft, and fourth-degree resisting arrest.
According to authorities, the case against Page traces back to a broader investigation initiated in February 2022 by the New Jersey State Police. That probe focused on a money laundering operation involving stolen and altered checks circulating throughout Atlantic County.
Investigators determined that Page played a collusive role in the scheme. Authorities allege he deposited fraudulent checks into his personal bank account before transferring the funds, helping facilitate the movement of illicit proceeds. In total, 36 individuals were charged in connection with the operation, underscoring the scope and coordination of the alleged criminal network.
Page’s legal troubles extended beyond financial crimes.
On June 18, 2024, officers with the Egg Harbor Township Police Department attempted to stop Page on Jefferson Avenue after identifying that he had multiple active warrants. Police reported that after being informed he was under arrest, Page attempted to flee, resulting in an additional charge of resisting arrest.
Less than two months later, on August 12, 2024, officers from the Pleasantville Police Department responded to a welfare check involving a driver believed to be unconscious behind the wheel of a running vehicle. The incident occurred near the intersection of North New Road and Woodland Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers identified the driver as Page. Authorities stated he appeared to be asleep inside the vehicle and awoke as officers approached. The circumstances of that encounter further contributed to the sequence of events leading to his eventual prosecution and sentencing.
The aggregate sentence reflects the combined weight of multiple indictments and offenses spanning financial crimes and public safety concerns. Under New Jersey law, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun carries significant custodial penalties, particularly when combined with additional charges.
Page will serve his sentence within the New Jersey Department of Corrections, subject to the imposed parole ineligibility period before becoming eligible for release consideration.
