Police Charge Woman In Monday Afternoon Northeast Stabbing

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Tuesday, a 42-year-old Northeast, D.C., woman was taken into custody and charged in connection with stabbing a man late Monday afternoon in Northeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, On Monday, April 28, 2025, shortly after 5:30 p.m., while on routine patrol, members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District were flagged down by a man who had reported being stabbed by a woman on the 800 Block of Bladensburg Road in Northeast, D.C.

Victim Transported To Hospital For Treatment

     The man was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital for treatment for a non-life-threatening stab wound.

     During the ensuing investigation, Detectives found surveillance video footage in the area of the stabbing and distributed a picture of the suspect to Patrol Officers. 

     On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Police Officers spotted the suspect, identified as Grace Shanita Hillard, 42, of Northeast, D.C., and arrested her. Accordingly, based on Detectives investigation, Hillard was formally charged with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Hillard was processed on the charge. Police did not report if Hillard was detained or released pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
