Berkeley Township Man Sentenced For Inappropriately Touching Nurse

Sunday, May 11, 2025, 7:45 A.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ.- A 67-year-old Berkeley Township, New Jersey, man will be spending the next four months in the county jail as part of his probationary term for inappropriately touching a nurse at a Township Rehabilitation facility back in March of 2023.

On Friday, May 9, 2025, David Taber, 67, of Berkeley Township, New Jersey, appeared in Ocean County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Kenneth T. Palmer to 120 days in the Ocean County Jail as a condition of probation, after being convicted of Criminal Sexual Contact in connection with a March 22, 2023 incident that occurred at a Township Rehabilitation facility.

According To The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on March 5, 2025, following a nearly week-long trial before Judge Palmer, the jury found beyond a reasonable doubt that Taber, while a patient at the Crystal Lake Rehabilitation Facility in Berkeley Township, committed an act of criminal sexual contact upon a nurse at the facility.

As outlined in the initial Police Reports, on March 22, 2023, shortly before 7:00 p.m., members of the Berkeley Township Police Department responded to the Crystal Lake Rehabilitation Center on a report that a patient had touched a female nurse inappropriately. Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers determined, after talking with the parties, that while the nurse was attempting to administer medication to Taber, he touched her breast without her consent, placed her in a bear hug, and tried to pull down her pants. A co-worker entered the room and separated the two.

Accordingly, Taber was charged and served with the charges through a summons complaint, pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey.
