Bergen County Man Charged With Sexual Assaulting Teen Girl

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ.- On Monday, following an investigation, a 20-year-old East Rutherford, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connecting with the alleged sexual assaults of a young teen girl.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, members of the Rutherford Police Department contacted Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit after receiving a report into allegations regarding the sexual assaults of a child.

Detectives Uncover Sexual Assaults

     During a swift-moving investigation, Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Rutherford Police Department, and following interviewing witnesses, including the child victim, determined that Walfred Santizo-Simon, 20, of East Rutherford, New Jersey, sexually assaulted and endangered the child on Monday, May 12, 2025, in Rutherford, New Jersey. Additionally, Detectives also determined that Santizo-Simon sexually assaulted and endangered the child on February 1, 2025, in Fairview, New Jersey.

     Accordingly, later in the day, on Monday, May 12, 2025, Santizo-Simon was taken into custody in Rutherford, New Jersey, and formally charged with two counts of second-degree Sexual Assault; and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Santizo-Simon was processed on the charges and remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
